Soil Science and Plant Nutrition department is a student-focused and research-intense department, offering a range of multidisciplinary coursework and academic programs. There are currently a total of 11 full-time faculty in the department. Soil Science and Plant Nutrition faculty conduct research from the cellular level to large-scale field and ecosystem studies. Our faculty specializes in soil physics, chemistry and mineralogy, soil genesis, classification and survey, soil biology, plant nutrition, soil fertility, fertilizers, soil amendments, soil management, soil erosion and water conservation, and agricultural waste management.
Teaching, research, and outreach efforts focus on the agricultural and environmental aspects of these disciplines.
Graduate programs, offering both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition as well as undergraduate programs in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition are centered in the department. The faculty also contribute to numerous other undergraduate and graduate programs in the Faculty of Agriculture.
